Imagine arriving to the United States not speaking a word of English or understanding what others were saying around you at almost every moment. Imagine being thrown into a completely new school system with classmates you had never seen in your life, with no way to communicate with them. That is the story of Joseph Nano. His family arrived in 2012, and this film documents his journey to assimilate into the Falmouth High School community.

Barriers was presented in the Anchors Film Festival at Falmouth High School and won Best Film and People’s Choice for Best Film awards
